Monday is here again and it’s back to work, but I hope you had a great weekend. This really is the best time of the year. The holiday’s, the weather, and football every weekend, who doesn’t love it?
During this time of the year, one show Caley and I love to DVR is Shark Tank. It features business pitches from aspiring entrepreneurs to a panel of potential investors.(1) One of those investors is billionaire and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. Back in 2003 the Chicago Tribune asked Mark:
Q: What is your philosophy as owner?
A: Work hard every day to be a better company for our customers, fans and employees than we were the day before. Take no prisoners when it comes to providing the very best to all involved so that everyone looks forward to coming to work and to the games.
Some of us can relate to his philosophy and others of us can only dream of working at a place like this. Even if your boss or company doesn’t work hard every day to be a better company for you and your customers, what is stopping you from doing it? This is THE reason for you to be better.
This week needs to be a take no prisoners kind of week when it comes to giving our best. When we do, we can actually be the catalyst of change for the current culture of our jobs. Show your boss the kind of boss you need by being the kind of employee he least expects.
You want your company to change? Let the change start with you.
