Cutting Corners…

In life we’re told cutting corners is not how to achieve greatness in life. Deuteronomy 24 tells somewhat of a different story..

19 “When you are harvesting your crops and forget to bring in a bundle of grain from your field, don’t go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigners, orphans, and widows. Then the Lord your God will bless you in all you do. 20 When you beat the olives from your olive trees, don’t go over the boughs twice. Leave the remaining olives for the foreigners, orphans, and widows. 21 When you gather the grapes in your vineyard, don’t glean the vines after they are picked. Leave the remaining grapes for the foreigners, orphans, and widows. 22 Remember that you were slaves in the land of Egypt. That is why I am giving you this command.

Here we find in this passage God speaking through Moses telling his people its massively important we give back…He tells his followers don’t go back and get what you missed…but let it be for those who need it…

It just so happens that you’re overflow maybe someone elses necessity…think about that…when is the last time you saw what you have as the hands and feet of God?…As Christ Followers we should know this…but I want you to look it a little different…

Just becuase we may be the one giving physically doesnt always mean its true spritually…

Monday in the mail I received my yearly picture update of Mohammed the kid I support in Bangladesh through World Vision. Each month we give $30 to help fund and give Mohammed and his community a better life…But as I soaked in his picture what I found to be true was not a focus on my giving but on Mohammed….and what Mohammed as given to us…

There are no words to descibe the amazing opportunity to be apart of something like World Vision…My life has been changed by it and every time Caley and look upon Mohammed we do so as he is apart of our own family…

We never think twice about giving….                                                                                                                                                                       Not because its the right thing to do…                                                                                                                                                                         But because of what he has gave us…

Tonight at Crave we will use this thought as a way to stretch us and mold us more into what it means to run after God and how so often we overlook his loving ways…
